Fortunately for you, it's quite easy to monitor these fluids. Most of the time, all you really need to do is lift the hood, and take a look.

Checking your vehicle's fluids regularly is a quick and easy way to save time and money in the future. 

Here are five Engine Fluids that you should make a habit of checking!

  • Engine Oil
    • Should be checked once a month!
    • Look at your owners manual to know when you'll have to have the oil replaced. Different vehicles have different time frames. 
       
  • Transmission Fluid
    • Should be checked once a month!
    • Transmission fluid should be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles.
       
  • Coolant
    • Should be checked twice per year, once before summer and once before winter!
    • Coolant needs to be replaced every 2 years.
       
  • Brake Fluid
    • Should be checked once a month!
    • Brake Fluid needs to be replaced every 2 years.
       
  • Power Steering Fluid
    • Should be checked once a month!
    • Check your owners manual for when to replace your Power Steering Fluid. Times vary greatly depending on the vehicle.
